How to get your agency recommended by ChatGPT

There’s no submission form and no paid placement. What actually moves the needle is a handful of concrete things you can check and fix yourself, starting with knowing where you stand today.

1. Get specific about who you serve

A one-line description like “graphic design” reads to AI as a craft or style, not a business to hire. “Branding agency for D2C skincare brands” reads as a company. The more specific your category, the more likely AI matches you to the actual question a prospect is asking.

2. Be described the same way everywhere

AI builds its picture of your business from everything it has seen about you -- your own site, directories, press, case studies. If each of those describes you differently, you dilute the signal. Consistency across every mention matters more than any single polished page.

3. Get named in content you don’t control

Being mentioned alongside your real category in third-party content -- roundups, comparisons, press, case studies -- carries more weight than anything on your own site alone, because it’s independent confirmation of what you actually do.

4. Check regularly, not once

AI answers shift as models update and as the content about you and your competitors changes. A one-time check tells you today’s snapshot; tracking tells you whether you’re gaining ground or losing it.
